Reminders for Procedures on Prior Authorization.

Reminder of How to Obtain Prior Authorization & How to Determine What Services Require Prior Authorization

Feedback from our most recent provider satisfaction survey indicated providers and staff would like clarificationfrom both Arizona Complete Health-Complete Care Plan and Care1st Health Plan Arizona on how to obtain priorauthorization and what requires prior authorization. 


As a result, our Behavioral Health and Physical Health Utilization Management teams are sharing the details below.  

  1. Please visit our websites and review our Pre-Auth Check tool pages. They help you identify if a service requires prior authorization and also provide you guidance on prior authorizations handled by our external vendor partners:
    • Arizona Complete Health Website : > For Providers > Pre-Auth Check 
    • Care1st Website:  > For Providers > Pre-Auth Check
    • Answer “Yes” or “No” quesfons related to the place of service and types of services on the website
    • If all the answers are “No”, then you will be prompted to enter the service code to check forpre-auth requirement
  2. Submitting prior authorizafon requests
