Arizona Complete Health (AzCH) is excited to partner with Hospice of the Valley to offer an amazing educational opportunity related to Dementia.  The event will take place at the Hospice of the Valley Dementia Care and Education Campus in Phoenix. This event is being offered at no charge and 1.5 hours of CME, Nursing CNE and NCIA credit are available. We would love for all interested medical professionals and support staff to attend.

Decoding Behaviors in Dementia

When language becomes difficult, persons living with dementia communicate with behaviors, which often exhibit as frustration over unmet needs. This interactive session includes a simulation exercise to help you understand the challenges of living with dementia. We will also explore methods to interpret behaviors and share ways to respond effectively with customized approaches and judicious use of medications.

Learning Objectives

1. Describe how dementia-related behaviors are expressions of unmet needs.

2. Describe two common medication mistakes in managing behavioral expressions.

3. List two approach techniques that help minimize distressed behaviors.
